Hi, hi! Can you believe it’s been anotherrr week?

I just started my summer class last Monday & I literally had to mentally prepare myself to enter a classroom again.

LOVE learning new things but I feel like school is way too stressful to be enjoyable? Anyone w/ me on this one????

On the plus side, this was prob one of the most productive weeks I’ve had all summer. Went to class ( on time! ), worked on the blog ( make sure you read the 3 posts from this week because the summer solstice has got me GOING ), & even squeezed in a much-needed beach trip. YES.

Can’t believe how much I missed playing in the waves, running in the sand ( seriously x2 the workout compared to a treadmill – LOVE IT ), earthing ( will do a post on this! ), & just having an entire day to chill & hang out.

Okay, I’m off to binge-watch season 5 of Young & Hungry – let’s see if I can’t get inspired to do some cooking myself – HA! x

a skinny spin on the classic burger & fries

June 22, 2017

Who doesnโ€™t love a good, mouthwatering burger & fries? I know I do โ€ฆ which is why Iโ€™m sharing my EASY skinny hacks when it comes to this notorious fast food. Click through now to The Summer Lover to get the low-down!{ pin it! ๐Ÿ“Œ }

Who doesn’t love a good, classic burger + fries?

I know I do.

& you can say it’s a guilty pleasure, but it can definitely be a pleasure sans the guilt – TRUST ME.

The weirdo thing about burgers & the stigma that comes w/ them is that the concept of it isn’t necessarily unhealthy : they’re basically sandwiches … & like all sandwiches they can totally, 100%, be modified to suit a healthy lifestyle.

BUT, there are def some HUGE I-should-NOT-be-eating-this moments when it comes to burgers : too many toppings, too many condiments, too big of a portion size, etc. … which basically = WAYYY too many damn calories.

& some other lesser-known problems : beef in itself is pretty fattening ( grass-fed beef is better though! ) – & on a grill, it’s like inviting carcinogens to your bod, the buns are usually very processed & thus not nutritious, or that a leaf of lettuce & a thin slice of tomato really just isn’t enough, veggie-wise.

I know, I know …

Who would ever want to gross themselves out, right???

YOU – in about 5 mins.

Picture this : I’m walking through the grocery store with a pretty short shopping list on my mind … A quick grab & go, in & out kinda thing. Like all I’m wanting is some pineapple, wild salmon, leafy greens, unsweetened coconut milk, & the ingreds to make some bomb-ass hummus … until my short attention span kicks in & my mind wanders to ice cream, XXTRA Hot Cheetos, & other junky processed crap.

DO YA FEEL ME?

Because this happens a lottttt. It’s like the devil sits on my shoulder, scratches 10 more things onto my grocery list, & screeches temptation in my ear.

Happy Sunday, girlies!

This week was pretty uneventful, though of course I did some blog touchups & content planning. It’s definitely hard to always stay on top of it & be productive when you’re working from home, but I LOVE a good challenge of finding different ways to stay motivated!

Speaking of work, I’m getting back into the game again : I had an interview on Wednesday for Abercrombie & Fitch, which is also where I worked last summer. LOTS of love for the brand because it just clicks w/ my style & it was def a move out of my comfort zone to work retail … but I’m super glad I did because it was such a valuable experience learning the ropes of running a B2C, hanging out w/ coworkers, & talking to random people about clothes.

I’m SUCH a huge fan of work & just making stuff happen, y’know? It’s like the idea of earning your first dollar & really learning to not take money for granted. Time really is money, so I always want to be doing something productive.

Also I 100% love work more than school – weird? Impending workaholic?

Maybe – HA!

why I 100% refuse to starve myself

June 15, 2017

If youโ€™ve ever considered starvation, extreme dieting, or weight loss quick fixes, this post is FOR YOU. Despite weight loss plateaus & other issues, I would never starve myself - because starvation mode ISNโ€™T WORTH THE TROUBLE. Why? Click through to The Summer Lover to read the full post - you wonโ€™t regret.{ pin it! ๐Ÿ“Œ }

Let’s talk EXTREMES.

They can be totally divine, y’know?

I’m talking : SUPER tart passionfruit, XXTRA Flamin’ Hot Cheetos, ICY cold showers, BLAZING hot weather.

Basically, some of my absolute faves.

But when it comes to my diet, I’ve found that I DO NOT want to mess around w/ extremes … On one end of the spectrum there’s over-eating. On the other, there’s starvation.

What I want & what I swear by is the sweet, middle stuff : MODERATION.

Like hell ya I want to look good – but I’m not about teetering on an imbalanced diet when there’s a MUCH more viable option that promises me health & wellness & just everything sunny in life.

If youโ€™ve ever considered starvation, extreme dieting, or weight loss quick fixes, this post is FOR YOU. I swear by moderation because it’s all about playing the LONG GAME – & the long game leads to lasting impact + results. & when it comes to health + wellness, nothing is more important than a change in lifestyle & mindset.

No quick fixes, no easy hacks, NO extreme 7-day weight loss – I always like to say that it takes time to gain weight, so it’ll definitely take time to lose it as well. Patience is key!

It takes time to gain weight, so it’ll take time to lose weight.

So what does happen when someone ditches the long game & looks for a “quick fix”? Let’s find out … Continue Reading

everything under the sun : lots of reworking & a 1/2 milkshake

June 11, 2017

Okay, yes, ya caught me : this week, the series is back-to-back w/ no newness post in between …

BASICALLY, psycho, OCD me likes to go back in time & rework / rewrite ( seriously though ) old blog posts

As in, I constantly reread my content every so often to make sure that it’s still applicable, on-brand, & full of relevant info for all of you babes! I’m all about providing VALUE for you guys – you’re sweet enough to stay, sip some iced tea, & read my thoughts – the least I could do is let you leave w/ a hot spark of passion, renewed confidence, & maybe a couple laughs here & there, y’know?

Or maybe I’m not funny. IDK.

But I sure as hell love to keep things light & breezy on TSL. ๐Ÿ˜‰

This week I was really consumed w/ the behind-the-scenes work … but I do have lots of new content coming for ya! As previously stated, I want to follow a consistent posting schedule to make things easier for you guys – ideally posting 3 times a week? I’ll give it a whirl for a couple of weeks & see how it goes.

Hiiii loves!

So it’s pretty awk : I forgot to write this post yesterday ( I write these Saturday & schedule them for Sunday @ 5 AM PST ) … I think the long weekend from Memorial Day screwed me up a lil’, so this week 100% flew by for me & I didn’t even realize it was Sunday already!

Crazy, crazy.

I started off this past week w/ some MUCH-NEEDED retail therapy … even though I’ve been trying ( keyword : trying ) not to buy new clothes since I always find myself in-between sizes in the summer.

Last summer I lost tons of weight by Continue Reading
