I know, I know …

Who would ever want to gross themselves out, right???

YOU – in about 5 mins.

Picture this : I’m walking through the grocery store with a pretty short shopping list on my mind … A quick grab & go, in & out kinda thing. Like all I’m wanting is some pineapple, wild salmon, leafy greens, unsweetened coconut milk, & the ingreds to make some bomb-ass hummus … until my short attention span kicks in & my mind wanders to ice cream, XXTRA Hot Cheetos, & other junky processed crap.

DO YA FEEL ME?

Because this happens a lottttt. It’s like the devil sits on my shoulder, scratches 10 more things onto my grocery list, & screeches temptation in my ear.

ACTUAL screeching going on :

“YESSS Kayla, you DO want those limited edition Firework Oreos!!! & if you get Oreos you need milk! But why settle for milk when there’s ICE CREAM? & you should really balance all that sugar out w/ something hot & savory! GET THE CHEETOS. JUST. GET. EVERYTHING.”

Like no, yuck, get away from me, ya nasty spaz – said NO ONE EVER … until they learned the art of grossing themselves out.

I do it all the time now. LOVE it because nothing spells out self-control like the roaring feeling of utter DISGUST.

Basically it’s the concept that ignorance isn’t bliss.

I pick up the thing I was salivating over, read the ingredients label, & cringe as I scan the overly processed, chemically names … talk about a major turn off.

Like no one wants to eat partially hydrogenated oils, sorbic acid, or titanium dioxide, right?

& while I talked about processed foods before, I wanted to let you guys know how effective this simple, easy peasy trick is when it comes to balancing your diet & stopping impulsive buys.

… just had to be realistic & account for the times I do end up getting the XXTRA Flamin’ Hot Cheetos – HA!

& it’s fine to give in sometimes – I always portion it out & balance my diet like a checkbook.

No fuss, no muss.

Balance is key. Moderation is key. Less is more. ETC ETC ETC.

I think it’s all well & good to learn about nutrition & what’s great for you & what’s not – but it’s even better to see it in action … & that’s why I just HAD to share this weird trick w/ y’all!

VERY ideal if you’re making the transition into a balanced + healthy diet – we all have to start somewhere!
