On the last day of winter break, I was up at 6 am ( !!! ) after sleeping at 11 PM the prev night. & yes, maybe I did wake up at every hour for some unknown reason, but I’m just glad that I’ve been keeping up w/ my resolutions so far.

A few friends & I decided to do a lil’ celebratory brunch at Snooze, an AM eatery in San Diego, CA ( Hillcrest ). Sadly, mimosas weren’t involved, but I quickly ordered a glass of water & a much-needed mug of coffee to start, for a nice caffeine boost & appetite suppressor.

Ever since I started drinking coffee, I’ve never been able to do without cream + sugar … until my semester in Paris. It’s like when you’re able to sit at an adorable cafΓ© in Paris w/ a tiny shot of expresso + lots of good conversation, it’s hard to go back to those huge, sugary coffee drinks. I’ve learned that good coffee simply doesn’t need the extra add-ins … & I was more than happy to avoid the unnecessary calories. 

🌑 HOT TIP : drink a glass of water before your meal – you’ll be full faster & eat less.

I picked the restaurant’s Late Harvest Benny & subbed the included hashbrowns with a side salad of arugula & pepitas ( a.k.a. pumpkin seeds ).

Best choice ever because I’m OBSESSED w/ arugula – like deeplyyyy in love – PLUS pepitas are an amazing superfood. I decided to load up on the greens & kept it as light as possible, especially since I wasn’t as hungry anymore ( thanks, caffeine! ).

I definitely make it a point not to just straight up order a salad whenever I eat out. Of course I totally love salad, but it’s honestly a much better experience to just eat, but eat in MODERATION.

Also salads are ridiculously easy to make at home – so why bother?

So, I order what I want while still balancing out the meal & cutting out excessive calories wherever possible.

Win-win.

Brunch was delish, light, & 100% hit the spot – I feel like I wasn’t even really hungry at dinnertime?

I spent the rest of the pretty relaxing day editing photos & tweaking some old posts before heading to bed to catch some z’s before my first day of class the next day.
