The tomato. Such a controversial food, no?

I mean, really – IS IT a fruit? Or is it a vegetable?

My theory? It’s totally a fruit – I definitely eat it like one! 

I’m talking : light breakfasts, juicy snacks, or a lil’ sweetness in my salad – YES.

Of course, I adore all fruits ( seriously, fruit is SO good – taste-wise & health-wise! ). But, tomatoes are probably one of the healthiest fruit choices out there.

First off, tomatoes are clearly not as sugary as apples or bananas … Seriously, 1 tomato only has 22 calories. You’d prob be burning more calories from slicing & eating the tomato! Or even just taking a huge bite out of it & trying not to make a mess ( been there, done that ).

But, they also have so much more than to offer :

Tomatoes are full of TONS of natural vitamins & minerals : vitamins A, K, B1-B7, C, iron, potassium, magnesium, chromium, phosphorus, choline, folate, & zinc.

& since they’re so rich in vitamin K, they will help strengthen your hair, give it some shine, & speed up the growth / revitalization process. Plus, they’re super good for skin – they fight acne & prevent damage to your skin cells.

Amazingly enough, they also reduce heart disease, stop blood clots, prevent stroke, & reduce cancer risks – all thanks to nutrients like lycopene.

& for those surrounded by second-hand smoke : THEY HELP REDUCE THE DAMAGE FROM SMOKING ( basically a shield against carcinogens ).
