I CANNOT tell you guys how many times I’ve realized how dehydrated I was!

It’s like, your day just gets so busy you forget to take care of yourself sometimes?

Or is that just me?

Drinking lots & lots of plain water ( no sugars, additives, or anything ) is the BEST thing you can do for your body. It’s honestly the best beauty tip, EVER. ( right next to getting enough sleep, but we’ll get to that some other time )

As in, if I could only give you one, singular beauty tip ever on TSL ( don’t worry, there will be TONS more to come ), it would be to chug down that H2O – whenever you freakin’ can.

The thing is, there are SO MANY MORE benefits beyond just survival to drinking ENOUGH water.

Water is simply magical – it really improves your body inside and out in so many ways :

β˜€οΈ Water is nature’s own beauty cream.

A huge concern everyone has at least once in their lives ( let’s be reallll ) : skin-care. 

No one likes / wants dry, flaky, acne-ridden skin … & you can try all you want to slather on those lotions & potions & other skin-care products, but it really won’t be doing you any favors if you’re not staying hydrated.

Drinking lots & lots of water will help keep your skin looking fineee as hell ALL THE TIME.

β˜€οΈ Water revs up metabolisms & helps you feel full.

H2O is such a miracle worker when it comes to weight-loss, & it doesn’t involve BS ingredients or sneaky I-want-your-money marketing techniques that run rampant when it comes to pills or diets.

Why? It’s simple : sometimes when your body tells you you’re hungry, there’s a HUGE chance you’re actually just thirsty.

 πŸŒ‘ HOT TIP : drinking lots of water right before a meal & during a meal REALLY fills you up. you’ll find yourself stuffing your face less! 
β˜€οΈ Water is practically an energy drink.

Instead of grabbing a Red Bull or some Starbucks next time, save yourself & your wallet & just grab some water. It’s easy, it’s cheap, & it works.

Fun fact : If I ever drift off to sleep in class, I probably forgot my water bottle!!! It’s because dehydration ( + not enough ventilation in the room ) will make you feel superrr tired. But, a few sips of water will keep you going & be the perfect little pick-me-up, trust me.

β˜€οΈ Water & fitness go hand-in-hand.

No water = your muscle cells can’t maintain the balance of fluid = lower muscle performance. Make sure you’re hydrating BEFORE, DURING, & AFTER a workout.

Muscle fatigue is a real thing & it’s definitely NOT fun.

β˜€οΈ Water keeps your body clean.

There’s no holding back on TSL, ha! So let’s talk about it : how does water relate to your pee & poop? ( I hope you’re not eating right now? Sorry love!!! ) 

Loading up on water totally helps your kidneys, which is a key factor to detoxifying your bod. Not drinking enough water means that there will be too much blood urea nitrogen trapped inside ( yuck ) … which means higher risks of getting kidney stones. Even constipation comes into play.

… & we all know NONE of those things are pretty, at all.

Right about now, you’re probably wondering : HOW MUCH water is enough?

You’ve probably heard about the 8 glasses / day thing, or whatever other sayings get thrown around to make sure you’re drinking water.

I’ve actually tried to test how many ounces were the perfect amount – not too little, not too much, y’know? ( drinking too much is actually not a good thing, either – hyponatremia is a real thing )

Some days I drink more depending on my activity level, or if it’s literally 100Β°F outside ( yes, summer is still my fave even if I’m practically melting β™‘ ) … & that’s totally been fine. πŸ™‚

Some more hot tips to keep ya hydrated :

β˜€οΈ Drink water whenever you’re going to eat ANYTHING. You’ll eat less & also balance out your sodium intake.
β˜€οΈ Eat more fruits & veggies! They’re super high in water content so they’ll keep things interesting in case you get bored of chugging water.
β˜€οΈ Invest in a good water bottle & stick with it. That’ll help you keep track of how much you’re drinking. It takes a true genius to actuallyyy remember how many oz. / mL are in each & every bottle, no? Especially if you go a lil’ overboard & end up buying several to make sure you have backup. Ooops.
